5 Tips for Living Better on Less

One of the concerns that many of people have about frugal living is how they can live better on less. No matter how much money you make, chances are that you are trying to find a way to stretch your dollars to last longer. On top of that, there is a good chance that you also want to figure out how you can live better. It seems like living on less is in direct opposition to living better. However, this isn’t always the case. It is possible to live better on less. Here are 5 tips for doing so:

1. Learn Contentment

One of the best things you can do is to learn contentment. Instead of always wanting more, or wanting something else, take a look at what you already have. In many cases, you might be surprised to learn that you already have enough. Do you really need a bigger house? Will another gadget make you happy? Find ways to be content with, and grateful for, what you have, and you will automatically live better. It’s easier to be happy and live better when you aren’t so focused on more and and getting what you don’t have.

2. Go for Quality, Not Quantity

Sometimes, you can live better if you are interested in quality, rather than quantity — or always getting something at the absolute cheapest price. While looking for a good deal is important, sometimes you really do get what you pay for. In those cases, you aren’t living better — you might find that you are more frustrated. Look for high quality items, and do what needs to be done to help them last longer. You can also find time to enjoy high quality treats on occasion, instead of buying a lot of lower quality treats that can ruin your health and leave you unfulfilled.

3. Quality Family Time

You live better when you spend time with the people you live. Strive for quality time together, including inexpensive and frugal family activities. You might be surprised at how much more you enjoy your life when you can spend time with friends and family members that are important to you. It’s hard to focus on material things when you have quality family time to spend with loved ones.

4. Take Better Care of Your Health

You don’t need a fancy gym membership — or even fancy equipment at home — to take better care of your health. Exercise can help you feel better, keep your body healthier, and improve your sleep habits. When you take care of your health by eating better, getting physical activity, and practicing good sleep habits, you are more likely to feel better about your life. Make a few changes to your lifestyle can help you live better without spending a great deal.

5. Look Out for Good Deals and Freebies

Be on the look out for good deals, discounts and freebies. Keep an eye out for discount passes to the local theater (or go to the cheap theater), watch for specials at the amusement park, and clip coupons. You can also look around town for free activities and historical site tours. There are a number of opportunities that can be had for a discount, or even for free. Take advantage of these, and you will enrich your life without paying a great deal more.

How do you live better on less?

Bonus Tip:

Another way to save on your monthly Internet and TV costs is to find a current ATT U-Verse coupon code or at least a promotion to knock down your home service bill.

We didn’t have a TV (or any money for that matter,) for years. For a long time, we made our own entertainment. We made things, cooked special dinners, made a sport out of finding great deals, went yard sale-ing, and logged many quality hours at the public library. When you’re bored, you have to get a grip and find something to do. Sometimes it was hard, but we have great memories of those years, now that we have a little more money (and a TV).
